The last twenty years of my full time teaching experience was in elementary gifted education. I currently serve as an adjunct math instructor at Fox Valley Technical College. I would feel most comfortable tutoring any elementary subject and some secondary math courses. I truly enjoy teaching and working with students to help them learn. I am open to using any method or style that is effective for individual students, which is what I do as an educator. My enthusiasm for education is obvious to anyone who knows me or observes me as a teacher.

I achieved an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where my senior thesis was selected as a finalist for the UW Creative Writing prize. I am passionate about the English language, but I think that writing is becoming a lost art. Quality writers are quality communicators. As writing in general falls into disrepair, those who can write clearly and read critically will have an edge in every institution they enter--from the University, all the way to the workplace. I enjoy hands-on teaching and one-on-one interaction with students. Good writing can simplify the thought process, and leads to students becoming better thinkers and communicators. I am easy-going and patient, but I take language and writing very seriously. There is no excuse for poor or careless writing, and I believe that an easily-taught, simple approach, can unlock the potential of any writer.

I graduated from California State University at San Francisco. While there I mastered my major of accounting as well as my minor in economics. I have over ten years' experience in all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. I have always been an exceptional mathematics student and my chosen field has enabled me to remain very strong in this area. I spent one year tutoring accounting students who had difficulty grasping the basic concepts of accounting. I was able to explain the accounting concepts in different wording than the text books and I also created a "cheat" sheet to help them understand how to handle different accounting transactions. The students I tutored always improved their grades dramatically and quickly. This gave me immense satisfaction! I always strive to make a difference in students' lives.
