I currently teach a broad range of students, ages, and subject matters with a variety of teaching styles. My personal style is to challenge the individual student even in a group setting. I believe in setting reasonable individual standard for student to work toward and accomplish. During my career, I have worked in the financial services industries holding positions from auditor to Vice President of Operations after earning my BA in Accounting and History. My original interest was teaching instrumental music. Although I changed majors and ultimately graduated with a BS in Computer Science, I have continued my interest in teaching, first by volunteer tutoring during college and later by helping adults learn to speak English. I eventually took an intensive summer course in teaching English to speakers of other languages, following which I spent over three years teaching conversational English in Central Asia. Upon returning to the States I worked for a few years for a literacy council, helping administratively and also teaching workplace English. I continue to play in orchestras and teach string instruments privately. I am in the process of completing a Master's degree in Teaching. I love working with children and with adults. I enjoy watching learners succeed. I have the ability to diagnose learning weaknesses in a student, effectively plan a course to re mediate the student's learning weakness, implement a set of steps to assist the student to take the weakness and turn it to a strength building upon already mastered skills, and evaluate the success of the student's efforts and move on or re-teach based upon the student's needs.
