I worked as a tutor in the Learning Center at SUNY Fredonia from September 2008 through December 2009. There I tutored college-level Biology and Chemistry in group and one-on-one settings. Effective teaching comes by teaching the student to learn how to learn. All people are generally intelligent, but in different aspects of intelligence. All people can learn, but at varying speeds. Learning how to learn is increasing the speed of learning in those aspects of intelligence in which one is inept. Chemistry is a very abstract science, and many people find it confusing. Chemistry requires all the faculties of teaching, like 3D visual aids, memory tricks, and most importantly, analogies. I often consider chemistry a science of analogies.
