Marine Biology is one of my top subjects!

I have worked in the aquarium industry for 19years. I have indepth knowledge, practical skills related to the marine science field. I grew up in a VA suburb of Washington, DC and spent my summers and holidays from college as a page, intern, and tour guide in the US Capitol. I have a passion for learning that I would love to share with students in need. My most recent job as Associate Curator at the Georgia Aquarium required that I have indepth knowledge of a wide variety of marine and freshwater habitats, ecology, fish ID, water chemistry, and management of a team of biologist.

I believe that science has a undeserved reputation for difficulty as a subject that is directly related to the inability of many teachers to "break it down". Science can seem to be like a foreign language to the uninitiated, but at its essence science is simply a way of thinking about the world and asking questions. I have experience teaching at a university as a Teacher's Assistant in chemistry. The classes would meet before a test and discuss the analytical techniques of the course. I am currently teaching an Anatomy and Physiology course for nurses looking to pass the RN liscensing exam. My approach to teaching is centered around the particular goals of the student or students. Clearly, a course centered around a liscensing test will focus on the material that will be on that test. Otherwise, teaching has to be catered to the student's ability to learn the material and focus on the weakness in understanding the concepts involved in the material.
I am currently teaching anatomy and physiology courses to students training to become licensed Registered Nurses. The courses focus on basic science principles and the relationship of these concepts to human function and structure, clinically.
