I began my college career in the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota. During my five semesters in the program I was able to study calculus and physics. I am familiar with high school level physics and mathematics up to and including pre-calculus. After five semesters at the University I transferred to St. Cloud State University to study economics. As a teacher I have always desired to teach in a way that I know I am communicating with my students. My teaching style includes making eye contact with my students to make sure they are with me. If I sense that their eyes have "glazed over," it is time for a change of pace. I might interject some humor or tell a short story to give them a break. I know that learning is hard work. I enjoy teaching students of all ages, individually or in groups. I find the Socratic method most useful, and with children this translates into making the subject (i.e. German grammar) seem like a puzzle that, with some effort, can be solved.
