I believe any child can learn the basics of any subject, but it requires that the teacher find a method of explanation that the child can understand. I believe that direct guidance is preferable during the initial stages of learning, but must be followed with opportunities for the child to solidify the knowledge on his or her own. I chose Biology as my major, knowing that it would challenge me. I took several courses in Biology and Chemistry in which I performed very well. I've never met a "stupid" student. I see all people as capable, as long as they are willing. I find it easy to get a student interested in a subject when they have usually been bored in class. I easily create metaphors and practical examples for application of the subject at hand so the student can personalize their studies. Once a student sees how the subject "fits" in their life, their interest level often changes.

I believe above all that patience is key in teaching people of all ages. If the teacher's listening and communication skills are focused on the individual(s) being taught, the learner will let the teacher know when they are grasping and/or absorbing new material as well as when they(the student) reach their capacity. I spent my senior year editing a scholarly journal for the School of Business Management. As a tutor, I helped students who were learning English as a second language to comprehend and properly use idioms and phrases in their writing, as well as helping them with spelling and grammar. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the course of the last 10 years both in the workplace and earning a 4 year degree I have learned many important skills in the areas of math. reading, and writing.
