A Little Bit About Me...

I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ages, on all skill levels and many with learning disabilities through 8th grade. I was a high school art teacher for two years and I worked in a college library for four years. I am able and willing to work with students of all ages. My emphasis has been the field of language arts; however, I taught middle school math for students with learning disabilities for two years. My doctoral dissertation examined college-level remedial reading and writing students in an effort to determine if adding online instruction to traditional instruction would improve student performance. My dissertation explored five hypotheses, and I found statistical significance in all five; thereby supporting the notion that adding online instruction to traditional instruction can improve student learning. While I was a doctoral student, I was also a Merit Scholar. In addition to my teaching, I have also tutored elementary, high school, and college students in reading, writing, and the understanding of Literature.
