A Little Bit About Me...

As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. Proof of this is shown by the length of my undergraduate work, six years with enlightening pauses in between to broaden my mind through travel. Biology is my strong suit however math such as physics, calculus and even chemistry are heavily influenced in the major. At San Diego state I have completed the majority of these subject units. This institution is considered the number one small research university with a little help from students such as myself.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a manager at a number of high-tech companies I was responsible for teaching employees in the use of complex software applications. I traveled to Singapore, Malasia, Thailand and Holland to teach company employees in the use of the Remedy call tracking application. I delivered a conversational Hebrew course at the Temple Beth El in Santa Maria.
I am very good at teaching at the student level. I found that this is very important if you want to accomplish good results. If you teach at a level higher than the student's he/she will not be able to follwo you. If you teach at a level that is below the student's level, he/she will get bored and loose concentration.

Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that.
I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin. I went to Taiwan for two months from March-May 2010 and helped teach in a "Bushiban" or cram school to kids aged 6-15. I am currently looking for a full-time job relating to my degree.

I like to teach my students giving them real examples of the topic viewed in class that day. I give them all the tools and information needed and then try to ask questions in regard to the topic and create a more interactive environment where they can feel free to ask and participate. Some times I bring them up front to resolve mathematical problems or just for their seats to come up with the answer. Then I assigned a homework.I like to alternate giving individual and other time group homework, this last one more complex. Real cases from real company's its always the material that i like to bring to class because it is more easy to visualize understand and definitely remember.

I would describe my teaching style as flexible. I believe that students learn differently and it's up to the teacher to adjust accordingly. My greatest asset as a teacher is my patience. If a student doesn't get it it's no problem. We just do it again and perhaps in a different manner. I do believe that all students are capable of learning and it's up to the teacher to lead the students in the right direction. Learning should be fun and and I believe maintaining a positive environment, giving encouragement and never giving up on the student.
