A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had an interest in tutoring, starting in Elementary school where I would leave during recess in the fourth and fifth grade to spend time in my past Kindergarten teacher's classroom. There I would read to students, reinforce the teachings lead by the teacher, and serve as a role model. During my middle school summers I would return to that classroom to provide aid for the summer school kindergarteners before they were able to enter the first grade. Upon entry into high school, I joined Project Understanding, a tutoring volunteer organization to serve children from low-income families who were falling behind in a classroom setting and needed some extra time and a different perspective to learn the material expected of them. I am a very caring teacher. I love to use humor and encouragement in the hopes that the students will feel inspired to continue and flourish in their writing, even after our time together is over. I believe in children and their ability to acheive anything, and try to relay that message to them in a fun and patient way. Although I have worked mostly in Film and Television since graduating from University, I returned to the University of LaVerne in Athens, Greece in 2004 to tutor foreign students in essay writing and to help hem with their entrance exams.
