I am a certified teacher k-12 in visual arts and have been teaching for the last ten years. I have an AA -Aeronautics, BA-Graphic Design, M.Ed.Art and MDiv degree. I have been tasked with improving the reading and writing skills of my students 9th through 12th grade. The majority of children are left brain thinkers and need to be challenged to utilize the right brain to evaluate, analyze, interpret, and understand the meaning of concepts and ideas. Higher level depth of knowledge thinking must employ the elements of the right brain: imagination, creativity, intuition, faith, and innovation, which are all necessary elements in problem solving. My learning style is best related to maximizing cooperation between the child and the parent, child and the tutor, tutor and parent, and the sending agency sponsoring the tutor. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system. I believe that all children should learn no matter what their ability or disability may be. Working as a Musician has been the greatest achievement of my life. I have been a Musician for 10 years. My work speaks for itself. I have been working with all type of ages and youth. Music has been my number one subject and creative influence on youth and adults. I really find joy in helping children learn how to play and sing music. I have been doing it for about 5 years. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006 wiht a degree in Psychology. While attending USM I taught a combined class Of 3rd And 4th grades. for the past 16 years I have tutor Reading, Math, History, and basic science to children in my family and community. I also substitute teach for 3 school districts. I believe a child can learn any subject put before him/her. With the belief that a child can learn, it is my challenge to find out what style of learning best fits each child being tutored.
