About Me

Experience Summary

Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city. I am well read and well versed in classical and current literature, with published articles and short stories to my credit. I look forward to not just teaching and passing on information, but rather to inspire people to think for themselves, and to think beyond where they are to reach what they could be.

Teaching Style

Hands on, project based. Whether with a group or one-on-one, I consider learning to be best experienced when all five senses are utilized to their maximum potential. Students of all ages will learn through creative game play, creative projects, and creative writing.

My Hobbies

Acting, Reading, Writing for online-literary magazine "GlimmerTrain" as well as horseback riding, running and of course, shopping.

Subject Commentary

American History Proficiency: Experienced
From the founding of the Colonies at Jamestown through current history-making events, students of American History will explore where the nation began, and how it has grown into what is is today.
Creative Writing This is one of my top subjects! Proficiency: Expert
The pen is mightier than the sword! Through creative writing, students will feel the full benefit of this old-but-true statement. Students will look at the building blocks of story in order to better communicate themselves. Students will learn the power of flow and dynamic story in order to better communicate with others. Students will garner and awareness for the human condition in order to learn to write more powerfully.
Drama This is one of my top subjects! Proficiency: Expert
All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely in it! Experience the exciting and rewarding field of drama. Coursework will be subject to needs of the student: everything from script analysis to simple, structured play in order to build self confidence and promote intrinsic creativity. This class is offered one-on-one, but students also thrive within a group setting, so special group rates apply.
English Proficiency: Expert
A broad understanding of reading, writing, and communicating properly, English students will be encouraged to read and retain what they have learned, communicate effectively through grammar and correct spelling, and write well-ordered and logical responses to questions. A great course to improve general reading, writing, and speaking.
Grammar Proficiency: Expert
Learn which is witch, as well as how to properly form a sentence. Broad, base-level subject includes reading comprehension and sentence building/writing.
Literature This is one of my top subjects! Proficiency: Expert
Literature encompasses reading at all levels, while focusing on the form and the meaning of the work studied. Lessons will include discussion, with emphasis placed on discovering and evaluating meanings inherent to the works presented. Comprehension and retention as well as opinion will be stressed. Good writing skills and oral articulation will be fringe benefits to the literature student. *Can be focused to a particular genre or author (such as "Epic Literature" or "Shakespeare" or "Romantic Poets")
World History Proficiency: Expert
Students of World History will garner a sense of place, and self as they learn through time and distance the various components of what makes people who they are.
