Highly motivated, educated, and interested teacher will help

I have been teaching for over 17 years. Being very versatile, I have taught English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Computers, Art, and preschool. I started out teaching preschool and loved it. Then I went to a private Christian school (teaching completely for volunteer pay). From there, I decided that I love to help people learn. I went back to school. Students still will recognize me and I know that I made a difference in their life. It is a great reward to know that at that point in their life, I was supposed to be there.
I believe in individual learning styles and matching the teaching technique to the learning style. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is important to learn how to capitalize on the strengths and build up the weakness.

I love what I do for a living. I love teaching and coaching and have always wanted to be a teacher. I believe all childeren can learn given the opportunity. I believe students have their own unique intelligences and learning styles. My teaching style is hands on. I give hints and partial answers in an effort to encourage students to think through problems and attempt to solve them. If necessary, I separate an idea into simpler terms, and help students learn each term before continuing. I give examples which illustrate a point or demonstrate a procedure. At times, my students write short essays, which I critique for sentence structure, word choice, tense matching, and organization. When a student is reading aloud, I follow along, interjecting if necessary with the correct pronunciation or the proper syllable emphasis.
In college, I was taught to organize topics in Math, Science and English, using outlines. This ensured that I studied all of the material presented in class. I am able to teach children of all ages and also am able to tailor my teaching style to the age I am teaching. Through encouragement and pointing in the correct direction instead of just giving an answer, I believe that the student learns best. Because I know all students learn at in different ways and at different paces, I am very patient in helping the student discover how best they learn and encourage them not to get upset if they do not “get it” right away. It believe it is my duty to help them not only get good grades but also to try and relate the subject being tutored into their lives.
