My teaching style needs to respond to the needs of the individual. There are several styles of learning so I need to understand the individual to best know how to teach them the skills they need to pass the course.
I have worked in several different types of industries from hotels, restaurants, travel, mortgage companies, transportation, banks, theater, real estate and other primarily service businesses. Most of my interests lie in the financial and accounting parts of these businesses because of the importance of not only being able to present an accurate picture of the company's condition at only one time, but also to make sure that there were no mistakes, thefts being covered up, or other discrepancies. Very large companies have had loans go bad due to the improper accounting of transactions by the business owners.

I've found that I really enjoy teaching students, especially those who are struggling, because of the satisfaction that comes with seeing the light come on. I've had many students explain to me that my class is the first one that they've done well and actually understand the concepts. I've taught Project Management for the University of Phoenix in the past, but I especially enjoy teaching math at Pima College... Statistics and the various levels of Algebra.
On the survey sheets that I've seen, I'm often praised for being very patient with students and very respectful of the students, no matter what their level of understanding. I typically spend very little time in verbal explanation, but a lot of time if running through examples with students so they can see the patterns for themselves... practice makes perfect.

I have earned a bachelor's degree from one of the most well regarded institutions in the world and I have a solid math and science background. For two summers while an undergrad, I taught an engineering course to high school juniors participating in the YESS (Young Engineers and Science Scholars) program. I also tutored a junior high school boy for two years in all subjects. I've tutored classmates throughout high school in all subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

I am very patient and detailed teacher. I go step by step when trying to teach a child how to do something. I don't skip steps. If they still don't understand, I don't go on to the next part of the lesson. I make sure they know and understand how to do the first part before I go onto the second part. Also I make things as simple as possible, complexing a subject doesn't do any good when it comes to teaching.
I worked as an assistant preschool teacher for a little over 2 years.I worked with two year olds mostly, but the children ranged from infants to K level. I was responsible for supervising and assisting in teaching a classroom of 20 two year olds.

I feel as an educator it is always important to learn from the students before you can teach them. The most necessary factor to success is being able to recognize just how the student learns and be able to take your teaching methods and adjust accordingly. Having had many good professors, teachers and tutors personally, I feel that this approach makes a world of a difference. I do try to mix things up in terms of teaching methods, once the subject seems to be sinking in, just to try to get students used to teachers or tutors who may not operate in this manner.

A Little Bit About Me...

While studying Physics at Iowa State University, I first discovered my love for teaching and tutoring and have been doing it almost continuously since then. I worked for the ISU Academic Success Center helping groups of 1-4 students learn calculus and calculus-based physics for 3 semesters. They always left my sessions understanding the subject better and gave me the highest reviews possible. Later, after briefly attending grad school, I went to Mexico and taught for a year. In my time there, I worked at both a private language school and as a 9th grade teacher at a private school.
