A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience working as an instructional aide at Kofa High School from 10/03-5/05. Motivated children that had mental and behavioral problems. Tutored teenagers with school work and helped out teachers to grade homework. (Ages 15-18)
I enjoy teaching children especially teenagers. I enjoy setting a positve role model for them and for them to help each other on math subjects, reading, etc. I have volunteer respite program when I worked at Arizonas Children Association and have experience working as social worker in Behavioral health. I enjoy helping children and the positive feedback when they learn new material. I believe in motivational interviewing and helping them find positive strengths within themselves.

A Little Bit About Me...

I sit with students and ask them what they are having trouble with. I will then explain to them and make it as clear as possible so they can understand better the subject they are having trouble with. Once done with my explanation, I will have them work out problems to show me they really understand the subject. It is very important to be patient with every student because some are fast learners and some are slow learners. Depending how much the student is struggling, I will dedicate my time and make sure students fully understand everything they are required to learn.

My teaching style varies according to the different areas of need in each child. No one child is the same, and they all learn in different manners. I approach the student with a safe and clean environment in which they feel the most comfortable learning. A method that works best for them and a friendly approach that makes them understand I care about them and am there to help. A Little Bit About Me...

With three children my oldest 16, my middle child is ten and the baby is 3 I have had the opportunity to help them learn and grow through school.I also sit in class with my fifth grader and help out because of shortage of aides.
I love working with and helping our young ones grow not only mentally but to do it and they have a sense of pride about themselves in the end.I encourage and push and I definately wont do it for them but I'm there for support and questions.

Education is very important to me. Just recently, I have graduated with honors and magna cum laude from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. My undergraduate GPA in college was 3.95 and my High School GPA was a 3.98. In the past four years, I have taught Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry laboratory. I have also tutored students in chemistry and statistics in the past. Math and science are areas that I am very passionate about. In every class that I've taken, I have helped my peers to grasp the material by spending additional time in "study groups". My future plans are to practice Pediatric medicine and I will be attending medical school in Fall 2011.
