Students preparing for the exam are encouraged to try to balance their subscores; physical, verbal, and biological scores of 12, 13, and 11 respectively may be looked upon more favorably than 14, 13, and 9, even though both amount to the same composite score. Taking a standardized test requires a special set of skills in itself, so it is no surprise that many individuals (myself included) have spend countless hours dissecting and conquering them. Allow me to share with you some of the tips and tricks I learned as an MCAT tutor. I have worked with a huge diversity of students and I find that students remember, relate, connect and understand metaphors, examples, and models best. So I tell my students stories about what they see in the world around them, relating lessons to the news, and showing examples that are so cool they cannot be forgotten! I love tutoring because my specialty is identifying the source of confusion a student might have in a given lesson and using my knowledge and experience to explain the science in a different way. This can include directing the students to a particular on-line resource and/or tool that can help the

Hello! My name is Mihir Kumar, and I recently graduated from USC under the full-tuition Trustee Scholarship with dual degrees in Human Biology and Economics, and a minor in Mathematical Finance. I’ve been tutoring since 2016 and am currently saving up for medical school, so I'm really looking forward to working with new students!
Over the past few years, I have tutored over 75 K-12 students in standardized testing (primarily ACT/SAT/PSAT), math (from elementary operations through Calculus), the basic sciences, English, reading, writing, and more totaling over 2500 total hours (both online and in-person). Many of my students have improved their SAT and ACT scores by 250-350+ points and 5-8+ points, respectively, too.
Having experience with the internal workings of the USC admissions process, I also provide college admissions assistance and have assisted many students in earning adm

I am clear, energetic, and provide students with lots of opportunity for practice. I have taught middle school history in Santa Fe, led and organized dance competitions for middle school students in west Philadelphia, and spent a year teaching English as a second language in Taiwan for students grades 2-6.
I am starting medical school in the fall. I achieved high scores on the new 2015 MCAT, and performed well in my premedical classes including biology, biochemistry, chemistry and organic chemistry.

Christina C - Livermore, CA 94551 (19.4 mi) - MCAT Tutor - $56.00/hr.
When you meet me in person you will immediately feel that I am someone who relates well with children and teens. I get to know students on a personal level and find out their learning style and modes of learning. I also assess their current skill level and knowledge of the subject so that I know where from where to start. There are often "holes" of information that are missing from students that can cause increasing problems as lessons build upon knowledge previously learned. Tutoring helps to fill those holes and to help kids find success! I am exceedingly patient, flexible and am very professional. I truly care about each success and frustration in my students and I believe in kids when everyone else has given up on them. I am an educator who has experience in a variety of teaching environments with a range of student ability, needs, ages and cultures.

As a classroom instructor, I am conscious that one needs to constantly engage with and interact with the class. I always taught in a tutorial style, where after I've introduced the material the students must solve a puzzle or problem based on it. I believe that to engage students there must be a discovery component to the class.
In a tutoring role, one can take the students strengths and build on those. Often a student has lost all confidence (and hope!) and doesn't realize how much he or she knows. By patiently building from simple problems this confidence can be restored. As a graduate student at UC Berkeley, I was a TA for twelve semesters in a range of physics classes. In 2002 I won the UC Berkeley Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor award. After graduating I was a lecturer for 2 years at 50% time. This was at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. There I developed
