Experience Summary
I am an educator who has experience in a variety of teaching environments with a range of student ability, needs, ages and cultures.
I hold a Clear California Teaching Credential and enjoy teaching a variety of subjects. I have a BA in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State with an emphasis in the Humanities. I took graduate courses in Education at Fresno Pacific University and received my Credential there. I have also taken graduate courses at UC San Diego to further strengthen my pedagogy.
My specialties are teaching writing and composition, literature, reading, and art. My experience tutoring has been with kids in the middle grades with science, algebra, English and social studies.
Teaching Style
When you meet me in person you will immediately feel that I am someone who relates well with children and teens. I get to know students on a personal level and find out their learning style and modes of learning. I also assess their current skill level and knowledge of the subject so that I know where from where to start. There are often "holes" of information that are missing from students that can cause increasing problems as lessons build upon knowledge previously learned. Tutoring helps to fill those holes and to help kids find success! I am exceedingly patient, flexible and am very professional. I truly care about each success and frustration in my students and I believe in kids when everyone else has given up on them.
