Additionally, I have worked 1 on 1 with many students on dramatic pieces and monologues for auditions and competitions. Having taught high school in both affluent and underprivileged areas I strive to make sure that every student has a positive learning experience. I have always found that the first and often most important thing a teacher can do is find the obstacles to learning that we all suffer from and seek ways to remove them. These may be the so called "blocks" that may develop after negative early experiences, preconceptions about the subject, or simply lack of confidence. Replacing resistance with enthusiasm and interest, and then providing expert guidance can then lead to acheivement.
Originally trained as a teacher of Drama and English, I subsequently spent many years working in the theatre, not only in educational situations but also as an actor, director and writer.
