I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center. After graduating, I started working for the Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures division. It was my job to try to "trick" the scales before they could become available for commercial use. I moved back home to Coshocton when I got married. I quickly found a job teaching adults within our county's GED program. I easily became the math and science "guru" with my background and began getting my Masters in Education from Muskingum University. I have been a full-time teacher for the past three years and substitute taught for one year. The past two years I have taught seventh and eighth grade math and social studies and sixth grade reading. The classes at the school where I teach are ability leveled, I teach the on-level ability students. The students in these classes often need extra help and more time and patience in understanding and mastering concepts. In addition to teaching, I have also tutored students of different ability and grade levels, both after school and during the summer months. I was also an instructor for the D.R.E.A.M.S. after school tutoring program in the Edison Local School District.
