I have been teaching for three years at the secondary level, although I have worked with younger students. My degree is in Business Education, but I have tutored in math before as well. I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. No two students are the same which is why it is so important to have a flexible teaching style. My first lesson is usually spent analyzing a students attention level, skill level, and learning style. Some students learn through repetition, others like lots of different examples, and there are always a few who want to know why and how something works, eg. theory, proofs, and real world applications.
