I am a Pre-K teacher. I have taught for about 13 years all levels. This includes SPED and I really enjoyed the field. I have learned more working with teachers and students that have made a stronger regular educational teacher. I also have tutored grades K-8th in reading, math, study skills, and Beginning Reading K-3 rd. I have also, coordinated and tutored with SES Programs for about four years grades K-8th. I have went in the home, public places and in the schools. I have enjoyed all my learning experiences witht the families and I enjoy learning from my different communities. I am a hands-on teacher and I believe in individualizing for all y students only because they all learn at different levels.

I graduated with a 3.6 cumulative GPA in December 2013 from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a dual Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Math Education. I spent a semester student teaching at Parkway North High School where I observed and then taught Algebra I, College Prep Math, and Honors Pre-Calculus. I have my Missouri Teaching Certification to teach grades 5-12 in mathematics. During college I spent three semesters tutoring college students in mathematics courses such as College Algebra and Intermediate Algebra.

I absolutely love teaching and especially enjoy working with upper level students, although I love working with children as well. I believe every student has been given unique gifts and talents, but needs others to help them discover those abilities. As a teacher, I don't expect all my students to be "math geniuses" because their talents may be in a different field, but I do expect all my students to excel in what they do and give their all. I encourage my students to make every effort to do their best because they CAN succeed at whatever they put their minds to. My goal as an educator is to instill confidence in every student and guide them to academic success so they can carry that confidence into all areas of life. After receiving my BS I taught high school English for nine years in Vermont and Massachusetts. I earned my MED in 1985 and served as an administrator at both the high school and elementary school levels. I've taught emotionally disturbed children and middle school ESL students in Santa Fe. Most recently I have been tutoring elementary students in language arts and math. For the past five years I've also tutored language arts and math to 1st grade through middle school students after school. My teaching style is to make learning fun. I like to bring materials to the lesson that match a student's interest and still build necessary skills. My middle school students became experts at poetry and grammar with daily competitions. Practice is imperative to learning, is my theory, and the key to the success I've had with students.
