I believe that the purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner. I know that the content knowledge is an essential ingredient for a tutor; however, to be truly effective, i believe a tutor must combine content knowledge with empathy, honesty and humor. The work required use of autotitraters, pH meters, conductivity meters, ORP meters, atomic absorption spectrophotometry, UV/Vis spectrophotometry, viscosity testing, Karl Fischer water testing, gas chromatography, density/specific gravity testers, and the LIMS program on pc’s for data handling.
