English is one of my top subjects! Qualified in this subject in this subject by WyzAnt. I taught English to Speakers of Other Languages as Senior Instructor with Inlingua (Vienna, Austria) for a period of two years and instituted an out source program for this company whereby I visited the offices of professionals such as lawyers, doctors and bankers and factories manned by blue collar workers to assist in their achieving greater fluency in English. I acted as a volunteer ESOL instructor at the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College in 2011. While in the US Air Force I gave ESOL instruction to Korean Air Force Officers. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

I have tutored in the Public Schools for many years while my children were young. As a young teen I even graded papers for teachers who were not associated with my school district. I enjoy teaching and get great satisfaction from the success when a student gets it! I home schooled my middle child when she became too ill to attend school on a regular basis. My method for her taught her to be very responsible. Upon graduation she had better self confidence and had a 4.0 in college and successfully completed her degree. I expect that after her child is older she will return to further her education.
