After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

MENTORING THROUGH TEACHING LASTS FOREVER!!!

What is appropriate for the student is my style. If the student needs much one on one to learn, that's okay. I was an elementary education major for 2.5 years before following my specific passion to writing and literature in my Junior year to finish up school. I graduated with a 3.35 QPA from Slippery Rock University in May of 2015!
