A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that education is a fundamental pillar in a person's life, that anyone can learn, and that people can teach each other. My goal is to help students learn what they need to be successful by using hands-on approaches where they can manipulate subject matter and "own it," meaning that they understand it thoroughly. I believe that teaching is reciprocal; in that I can teach for a student to learn and also that a student can teach me so that I can learn. I would strive to inspire a curiosity of learning and loving to learn by providing students with the experiences and opportunities to become comfortable with the material being studied. My motto for teaching is “Let go and jump in” because the only way students can learn and “own it” is by letting go of their fears in learning and get their hands into the subject matter.

Since graduating from Queens College with my degree in Mathematics and Elementary and Early Childhood Education I have had the opportunity to work in many different areas of education and taking on many different roles. I have tutored students from grades kindergarten through 12th grade and adults in Special Education, Elementary Education, Mathematic, English, and Spanish I&II. I have gone on complete my Masters Degree at Dowling College in Special Education as well as completing an ESL certificate program in Costa Rica. I have worked as a one on one aide, Teacher's Assistant and Teacher in general education, inclusion and self contained classrooms
