Musical is one of my top subjects! Instrumental, Vocal and History

Through my life I have excelled in the subject of music. I am fortunate enough to have studied with great private instructors and professors, and am seasoned going on 5 years of teaching in the public school setting. As a high school instructor, I have 5 Choral ensembles in addition to my management of the Choral Department and courses of piano and American Contemporary Music. In previous years teaching, I have worked with grades 4-12 including general music curriculum, choral instruction and Marching Band. I am proficient with music theory, and excel in teaching aural skills to prep for the AP Music Theory exam. My teaching style is unique to each student's indivdual needs. I take time to recognize my students learning style and provide the need materials or teaching style based their needs. I prefer tutoring to working in a classroom because I can give each student the specialized one-on-one time they need to help not only keep them on track with their school's requirements, but also introduce them to better study habits that could help them excel in the classroom when they do return to school.
During my years attending UMass Dartmouth, I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. But I also gained alot of experience working with children. After graduating from Haverford College with a double major in physics and astronomy, I worked for three years as an astrophysics researcher at NASA and Harvard University. In 2000, I became a teacher and a tutor. Since that time, I have taught children of all ages and adults in a wide variety of subjects. From 2002-2003, I designed and taught my own courses in physics and Calculus at the Academy at Charlemont. From 2004-2006, I completed a two year graduate program in physics education at the University of California, Berkeley.
