When tutoring, I try to meet the students needs by utilizing methods of teaching which take into consideration the student's learning style. I explain concepts using visual representations as well as numerical/algebraic models. As an undergraduate, my focus for studies in English were both Critical Literary Analysis and Creative Writing. Analytical writing was stressed heavily, giving me the ability to interpret a text based on intrinsic value. The creative tract allowed me to experiment with my own abilities while keeping in mind strategies implemented by others I have read and studied. A requirement for all English majors at the university was to have intermediate skills in a foreign language. I have earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and a master’s degree in statistics, which have made me very knowledgeable in several areas of mathematics. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for two introductory statistics courses (one more theoretical than the other), and am very well aware of how students learn statistical concepts. After teaching statistics for 2 years, I have developed my teaching skills and can communicate well with students and assess which areas they are need help with.
