I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.
I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. Every student learns differently but they all respond to a few tricks I've learned. Positive feedback helps all student gain confidence and reduce their frustration while learning. Examples are key to almost every tutoring session, the trick is knowing what example to use. Leading the student to find the answer themself builds their confidence and increases understanding. Finally, confidence combined with a positive attitude will give the student faith in you. So even if they do manage to get frustrated, they trust you to help them through it.
In May of 2009 I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
