A Little Bit About Me...

During my high school career I was frequently called upon to be a teacher's assistant. This was over fourth, fifth, and sixth graders the majority of the time. I also tutored a fellow classmate in Algebra q, chemistry and biology. I also currently have a job tutoring two sixth graders in math and english. They were at a third grade level when I began and are now into the beginning of fifth grade work. I have only been working with them for approximately two months.

I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. I would also focus on teaching proper study habits so the individuals can apply them and possibly not need a tutor in the future.

Since working with the disabled folks I have learned patience is a virtue. I also learned that each person is very unique and learns in different ways. I will meet your child's individual needs and try to show them a subject matter from a different point of view.
