I try to alleviate math anxiety, and introduce thoughtfulness as a way to solve problems. I teach how to understand math rather than just mimicking the behavior of the teacher. Math is about putting two and two together more than it is about learning how to add and subtract. The Friendly Math Guy Next Door

Although I can and have made lesson plans as a tutor, I prefer just explaining and working similar examples to whatever specific questions students bring to me in an effort to have them work through their own specific problems themselves with me there to assist.
Taught students ranging from 7th to 12th grade in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus for 2 years in a private school setting as well as after school tutoring in the aforementioned subjects. Tutored in all subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus while a student at Mitchell Community College. I have taught math as a trainee teacher for six months coupled with one year experience in private tutoring. I hold a BS in Mathematics, with a focus in pure and applied math. I have excellent verbal communication skills and am experienced in planning and evaluating lessons.
I believe helping students understand math topics is much better than just helping them to solve problems. The idea is to go through what they've learned and build upon that. I find tutoring enjoyable and satisfying when I see that children are grasping difficult math topics.
