I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls studying English Literature and Technical Writing. I am also in my second year of French and am proficient at reading the language. I can provide assistance to the beginnining French student. In high school I took Advanced Placement courses in American History, Biology, and Literature. I am able to provide help in any of these subjects, due to the fact that I have continued my studies of them throughout my college career.

I am an Electrical engineer currently working for IBM as a logic design engineer. I have been tutoring students for past 10 years. Ever since I was a kid, I would be lured by the sight of a telephone or a remote control. I would spend my time building blocks and solving puzzles. These innate qualities in me have blossomed into the strong desire to become an engineer. With mathematics and physics being my strong subjects in school, I have always nursed an ambition to be an engineer. With my entrance into high school, my love and enthusiasm for the subjects rose to such an extent that I restricted myself not only to reading books but also delved into the world of circuitry construction. I am fairly laid back. Above all else, I tell my kids that to be focused and to concentrate in chess requires a strong will to win, but winning is not everything. I think of chess as an art form. It takes two people to contribute to the beauty that is chess. Some of my most intellectually satisfying and artistic games have been losses, yet even in losing, I was able to contribute something meaningful and beautiful. Above all, my students seem to understand that when chess stops being fun, it is time to step back and reflect. In chess, the real opponent is one's self. I have been playing chess since the age of 5. I lived and played in the U.S. as well as in France. In addition to playing, I have also been coaching scholastic chess since about 2005.
