My approach is to first determine how much the student understands on there own. Then I attempt to suppliment their knowledge with my own. I attempt to do this in a patient and caring manner.
With my Associates degree, I spent over 12 years working in the accounting field. I developed many accounting skills and talents for which I was not fully recognized. One of the main reasons for this was because I didn’t have a Bachelor’s degree. I resolved this deficiency by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix in 2002 while maintaining a full time job and a 3.79 GPA. I began teaching algebra and geometry at a junior high in the fall of 2004, following graduation from USU. During my three years of teaching, I have found numerous ways to help students overcome difficulties in mathematics and learned better ways to help students become successful. I held a part-time tutoring position while in college, and continued to be a personal tutor for people in the neighborhood while teaching full time.
