I am currently tutoring a student who will be in 4th grade. I'm teaching him various strategies to help him understand, primarily, multiplication and division, but also other important topics, such as telling time and skip counting. He makes a little bit of progress every day towards understanding the concepts, as well as memorizing his basic facts. I try to get my students to find the answer for themselves by asking them questions. Students need to come to an understanding of their material and that won't happen if I continually give them the answers. I'm also very patient with my students.
