Experience Summary
As a student I enjoyed school and learning and therefore went on after high school to obtain a B.S in Biology. I have always enjoyed science, math, and writing and enjoy helping others in these subjects as well as others. My first tutoring experience was tutoring underprivileged high school students weekly. I then began tutoring middle school and high school students weekly. Over the course of the school year, the children I tutored had improved a great deal in their courses and now had a positive outlook on learning. Tutoring is something I am passionate about as I enjoy providing encouragement and seeing each student progress throughout the school year not only in their academic work, but also in other areas of their life.
Teaching Style
I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. I create study guides, review questions, and sample test questions for the students as well. In addition, a tutor can be a positive role model in student's lives and serve as a mentor and can be a person who the students can count on to answer questions.
