Learning can be fun!!

When tutoring, I strive to make lessons engaging, effective and enjoyable. Specifically, I tailor lessons according to an individual student's needs and involve students in a dialogue by asking questions that provoke thought, conversation, and perhaps humor. Because facts and figures are easily looked up in the information age, I place particular emphasis on thinking and on "learning how to learn". I began tutoring as a high school student and throughout college I continued to tutor privately. I hired on at a tutoring agency in October of 2000 and was with them for almost 4 years. I continued private tutoring after leaving the agency and also worked briefly as a tutor during an off track period. I have tutored in many subjects, including English, mathematics and various other subjects at different levels. I have worked with students K-12 as well as adults.
After working at Outdoor Science School for the last two years, I have changed in the ways I approach children and their learning. There are so many different learning styles, as there are many different children.
