Over the years, I have been known as a good tutor because of my will and determination to make sure the ones whom I am tutoring are understanding the material rather than just remembering.For this, I have been known to be a strict tutor, but the significance of this matter is that I always have had students getting at least a grade level higher than what it was. For example, in the 8th grade right before a test to a classmate asked me to review the material that would be on the test, because she had not studied at all.I had ony 10 minutes to tutor this person but as a result, my classmate got a 85 out of 100. In this situation and every, I find out what can I use(weather it is something silly or funny)that help them remember, than I further it into giving them a better understanding of the material.

I graduated from Mount Union College in May 2006 with a BA in History and a double minor in Adoloescent to Young Adult Education and American Studies. Throughout high school I was a teacher's assistant helping with students in class during my study halls as well as working one on one with students for extra study skills. In the past few years I have tutored students in elemtary math, middle school reading and writing, and even my own students before and after school in social studies. Teacher with gentle touch - Very good at explaining new subj

Web manager and usability analyst as well as instructor. I have been asked at various jobs to teach training classes to my peers because of my ability to deliver an easy to understand lesson. I've been told I am very good at explaining a topic that someone has no experience with at all. I am on contract with NC States Computer Training Unit.
I try to find the teaching style that is going to work for the student. Are they visual? Do they need to touch to learn? Finding out how to teach them and then helping them learn skills for independent study are just as important as the material.

As a high school freshman I began to tutor elementary school students based on the needs highlighted by their teachers. I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center.
