As a recent college graduate, I was driven to study engineering and music to create a balanced lifestyle. I have earned a bachelor of science with a major in engineering science and a minor in music. The ability to counteract my math and science studies with the arts is beneficial for the body and mind. My off-campus work-study job during my college career included tutoring at an after school program for children in elementary school to middle school in the subjects of math, science, and english. With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity. I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I am a recent graduate of East Tennessee State University. I have a degree in Elementary Education and a teaching license in Tennessee and South Carolina. I have worked in an after school program for 4 years with pre-school (3 years) to 6th grade. I was a substitute for 5 months for kindergarten through 12th grade.
