A Little Bit About Me...

I find that talking and reasoning through a problem or situation is the best way to commit information to long term memory. I do this by drawing pictures/maps/diagrams, posing related questions, and drawing on current knowledge to create more connections to what is being studied.
While working on my Bachelor's Degree at A&M I tutored students in various fields such as Immunology, Medical Microbiology, Bacterial Physiology and Genetics, Ancient Greek, and Clarinet. I also have teaching experience from my time as an assistant instructor at a martial arts school where I aided and held classes in Youth and Adult Brazilian JiuJitsu, Karate and Krav Maga.

Genetics is one of my top subjects!

Tutored friends and classmates for general chem, genetics, biochemistry, organic chemistry for tests and finals. Most students I taught were B and C grade students trying to get into med school. They received A grades on their tests after tutoring. My story: I HATED chemistry in high school and college and choose economics instead. I also had the worst teacher one could ever have and taught myself chemistry later in life while working for a pharmaceutical manufacturing company and then joined the biotech program for a masters degree. Graduated with a GPA of 3.8 in 2009. I work in the specialty chemicals field and have a good working knowledge of chemistry.

Biology and the life sciences are as interesting to me now as when I was in the fifth grade.
