I am a person who likes to teach one on one. I like to find what the student's interest is and tailor their teaching to that. I believe all children have a gift and an interest that is their inner dream and helping them find that or giving them an opportunity is wonderful. I love art and feel very strongly that it should be a very important part of everyone's education. Students are anxious to actively participate. I do a demonstration while I lecture on a particular point, i.e., perspective, form, light, color theory, etc., then let them have time to execute a given assignment in class. At this point I give them personal attention. I have a "critque" at the end of the session and have them participate. I require constructive comments so as not to discourage anyone and to promote the notion that everyone has a unique and valuable point of view . Homework is assigned and I ask students to keep a sketchbook, which should be drawn in daily. I ask to see these ungraded books intermittently throughout the course.
