A Little Bit About Me...

As "stay at home" mom of 6, I have used my two Bachelors' degrees for the education of my own children. I've taught them essential reading and writing skills, study habits, organization skills, science projects, practical application of principles, and a love of learning. I have also home schooled my children. I teach violin and piano out of the home and have spent many hours volunteering in the public schools with ESL and teaching early morning Spanish courses. I enjoy working with children and have taught children ages 4-12 in church for many years.

I recieved a percussion perfromance degree form Eastern Washington University in 1992, since then I have been teaching private music lessons (percussion and begining piano)as well as teaching some high school music programs. I also have many years experience in performing all percussion instruments.
I love teaching all different ages. I have a passion for working with children and adults. My approach to teaching is a positive one providing lots of encouragement and positve reinforcement. In 2006 I began working for the American English Institute as a tutor to university students studying English as a Foreign Language. In 2007 I gained employment with the Eugene, OR school district as a Classified Substitute where I fulfilled a variety of positions; mostly working with IEP students or assisting in Learning Resource Centers. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Chinese and a minor in Asian Studies. In July of 2009 I had the opportunity to travel to Indonesia as an ESL teacher through English First.
