My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. I recieved a percussion perfromance degree form Eastern Washington University in 1992, since then I have been teaching private music lessons (percussion and begining piano)as well as teaching some high school music programs. I also have many years experience in performing all percussion instruments.
I love teaching all different ages. I have a passion for working with children and adults. My approach to teaching is a positive one providing lots of encouragement and positve reinforcement. A Little Bit About Me...

My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1. Of all the students in the school who surpassed the required State testing and higher District goals in both reading and math, 75% came from my class, as did the winners of the school's essay contest, spelling bee and geography competition. My first career was in medicine where I gave direct care, taught military/civilian classes and participated extensively in research, gaining a deep understanding of science biology and chemistry and human A&P.

In 2007 I gained employment with the Eugene, OR school district as a Classified Substitute where I fulfilled a variety of positions; mostly working with IEP students or assisting in Learning Resource Centers.
