Turning your weakness into your strength

I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"
I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.

Retired teacher with 27 years of experience!

I have 27 years of experience teaching and case managing public school special education students in grades 9-12. I consider myself a facilitator of information more than a teacher. Students must be accountable for their own learning. In math and science, it is important that students know how to apply knowledge rather than merely memorize information. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always thought of myself as a progressive teacher. I always thought children could learn to do anything they were asked to do. I always loved learning and felt it was my obligation to instill the same in all my students, no matter what age.
