My teaching style varies from student to student. However, the basic foundation is the same. I like to develop the fundamentals and build a foundation on top of them. I also like to see the students do a certain problem that they are struggling with in front of me. Moreover, I like them to talk out loud so I can follow their thought process and identify where they are struggling and help them better understand any steps that they have simply remotely memorized. In this manner, not only do they better understand the problem at hand, but they are also capable of tackling similar problems without any need of memorizing steps. I enjoy teaching and working with all children. I grew up as a teacher's son and now I am a teacher's husband so I have experience exploring different methods to help children learn. I believe I can pass on my education and experience to students and give them real world applications of the material they are studying. After graduating with a mathematics undergraduate degree in 1998, I have continued to study all areas of mathematics for the last 12 years. Throughout my academic career, I have excelled in many subject areas. As a result of my academic success I graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Grand Valley State University in Natural Resource Management. Currently I am pursuing a master of science degree in biology at GVSU. As a grad assistant I assisted in the instruction of ornithology labs.
