My comments on tutoring Genetics : Genetics is one of our most exciting fields and I have had the pleasure of working with local BioTech companies on cutting-edge research in the area. The possibilities are endless, and the deeper you go, the more complicated it gets. For example, if the conditions are just right, you CAN have a brown-eyed child from two blue-eyed parents! I have been teaching/tutoring students in life science for over 20 years, but it all started with my BA from UC Berkeley in Integrative Biology. What I have found works effectively is to lead the student through the problem with as little intervention as possible. The problem the student usually has with the particular topic is usually a slight misunderstanding of background material needed to answer the question.
I have tutored at UC Santa Cruz for undergraduate biology classes including cell biology, biochemistrty, genetics, and eukaryotic molecular biology. I tutored during my undergraduate education for two years.
