A Little Bit About Me...

I have set-up courses in different manners and have come to the realization that students must be engaged. I create engagement in a variety of ways using differing types of assignments and projects to attempt to hook the students. I also understand the importance of developing a relationship with the students. Before students will accept your teaching they must see you knowledgeable and looking out for their best interests.
As a non-traditional student I was more mature when I returned to finish my degree than when I had originally gone to school. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very unique way of teaching. My key to success works on a system of discipline and rewards. I find creative ways to make the most mundane tasks fun to accomplish. I think the number on rule in teaching strategy should be finding a way to make the process enjoyable. I believe most kids that do poorly in school have an incredibly hard time putting their hearts into tutoring. In my professional experience, it is almost like pouring salt on the wound when they don't do well in school and then have to suffer through more torture after school.

Over the past 12 years, I have worked in both the private and public sectors of the education community. I have taught grades 7-12 in all areas of science. I have also been the director of a learning center, where I started as a tutor. The years of experience have taught me a great deal about children of all ages and abilities. Learning should be fun. I strive to make a point of this when ever I teach. I do this in both lectures and tests. I find a little humor takes the edge off test taking and allows the student to concentrate on the subject matter without being nervous.
