A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.

I enjoy working with students and co-workers on all levels, whether they have little or no experience. I know when to recognize different styles in learning and methods I can use to accomodate each different style. I am also very patient and willing to put extra effort in with students that might have trouble learning the material presented.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching several subjects to all different age levels. I enjoy taking a difficult subject and finding the way in which it relates to the student. While in college I was a youth soccer referee in which the referee has to explain to the rules and apply them to kids ages 5-11. It is exciting to watch the students understand the message that I am trying to portray. If the first attempt to explain something to a student is unsuccessful, then I will explain it in different ways until the student understands.
