Texas Certified Teacher: Early Childhood thru 5th Grade

The relationship that I and your child will have will be based on mutual respect, and I will ensure that your child's academic specific needs will be my focus. Each child has a different way to learn. As a trained and certified teacher I find ways that my students can grasp the concepts and learn. I believe that concepts should be learned first on a concrete level, using hands on strategies. Once they "get it", we can move on to more abstract ways to understand.
I taught Early Childhood and Elementary school, grades Pre-K through 5th, in the Houston Independent School District for 10 years. I mostly taught 1st grade. It is amazing to see them progress and learn, from non readers to readers, from non writers to story writers. Since I moved to Baton Rouge I continued tutoring children struggling academically in the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, Spanish, and Social Studies.
