My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Will teach students skills that will help them to get their creative juices flowing, all the while teaching them important concepts in composition and writing.

I recently obtained my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where I graduated in the top of my class with a 4.0. While there, I often tutored people in writing and research, as well as serving as a Teaching Assistant for various classes including: Theatre History, Voice for the Actor, and Shakespeare. In addition to my degree in Theatrical Performance, I received a minor in English Literature. Since I've been home, I've been helping some of the younger members of my family with their writing and study skills, and their grades have greatly improved since we've started working together. I began working in Tangipahoa Parish February of 1983. I tutored in the Migrant program When our school moved I moved to a 6th Grade class where I taught self-contained, team taught, etc. When we moved, once again, to a new school I with Mrs. Deborah Ellzey as a team-teacher. My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I find putting a student at ease in the beginning allows them to open up to me in order for us to both find out how he or she learns best, especially since I feel learning styles vary for each individual and often differs for some subjects. For example, I may want to use pictures and art to explore history versus reading and lecture type presentations.
I have taught both college and AP High School for college credit in the areas of Humainties, Religious Studies and English composition at three different institutions. Though I do well in large classroom settings, I prefer more personalized instruction settings. I think I would make an excellent tutor in the areas of English Composition and Literature and World History on both the high school and college level, and would likely do quite well to tutor high school French.
