I am a qualified teacher originally from Australia now living in Modesto. I am a graduate from the University of Tasmania in Launceston, Australia. I believe anyone can teach a subject, having enough knowledge of a subject allows one to pass it on. However, I feel what many teachers do not do is teach students how to learn. It is in my belief that teaching students to learn enables them to think independently allowing them to become more creative rather than repetitive. So not only do I teach students the subject, I teach them how to learn and apply it to every other subject.
As a accomplished student, I realized I always had help along the help with achieving academic success. From teachers and counselors to my peers and older students. I believe that positive reinforcement, patience, and a genuine desire to see one’s students excel is the best way to success. I feel that the only way to get through to a child is to be his or her friend first and foremost, and to treat him or her as an equal. I love being both a tutor and a friend.
