After earning my BS in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara, I decided to live abroad in South America as a Peace Corps Volunteer to help others and put what I learned to practical use. I was stationed in Bolivia where I taught natural resource management, ecology, basic science, and nutrition to children as well as adults. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I believe anyone can teach a subject, having enough knowledge of a subject allows one to pass it on. However, I feel what many teachers do not do is teach students how to learn. It is in my belief that teaching students to learn enables them to think independently allowing them to become more creative rather than repetitive. So not only do I teach students the subject, I teach them how to learn and apply it to every other subject.
