My teaching style is very flexible to accommodate different needs and understandings. I first probe to find inadequacies in the student’s knowledge, then present the material in an easy to understand manner primarily focusing on the student’s weak areas. My patience and easy going attitude greatly help tutoring sessions because the student does not feel reprimanded, but rather encouraged through the frustration and mistakes to achieve a greater understanding. I enjoy tutoring students of all grade levels. One of the most rewarding opportunities I had was to hold a position as a Boy Scout Leader and also my position as a High School Math and English tutor. I believe in teaching techniques that focus on what type of learner the student is. I adjust my teaching style according to what is necessary to help each particular student grasp ideas and concepts according to what works best for that student. I am a life long learner and interested in several different areas of study. During my BS degree, I majored in Biology and minored in mathematics and earned a teaching certificate. Then I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I developed and taught a “Business for Doctors” class at three different colleges. I also enjoyed maintaining my private practice. I then became an Executive Director of Education & Training for a Louisiana corporation. I wrote instructional manuals for company owned and franchise clinics and presented training seminars. I earned a MA degree in Guidance & Counseling & became a high school counselor. My primary goal has been to be an advocate for the students and teach them how to learn.
